Antique Swedish cast iron tobacco jar or humidor base featuring prominent relief work.
Details
The cylindrical canister displays a large decorative royal crown centered above the year 1800 stamped near the base. Flanking the central shield area are two ornate heraldic lions standing on their hind legs to support the design.
It is finished with a dark, textured charcoal patina. It features the Latin phrase "Inter bibendum, large fumandum" (loosely meaning "drink between heavy smoking sessions") molded onto the opposite side. The jar has its inner lid which keeps the tobacco compacted
