  • 19th-Century Swedish Green Glazed Earthenware Sieve with Handle

    19th-Century Swedish Green-Glazed Earthenware Sieve

    Details

A rare 19th-century Swedish earthenware sieve, hand-thrown and finished in a warm green glaze with natural tonal variation. The vessel features a gently tapered body, applied loop handle, and a pierced base designed for straining liquids—traditionally used in rural kitchens for dairy processing, brewing, or food preparation.

The glaze exhibits characteristic irregularities and pooling, with areas of exposed terracotta at the foot, reflecting the utilitarian nature of Swedish folk pottery. Wear to the surface and glaze is consistent with age and use, contributing to its authentic, timeworn character.

    Dimensions

    6" H x 5 1/2" W
