Eleish Van Breems is honored to be one of fourteen designers (including Kit Kemp, And Objects by Martin Brudnizki and Nick Jeanes, Yabu Pushelburg, Frank de Biasi and Mitch Owens) commissioned by the UK luxury fabric house Christopher Farr Cloth to create quilts designed exclusively with its fabric collections.
The quilts, each handmade in the UK by expert seamstresses, will be exhibited at the Nantucket Historical Association property Greater Light at 8 Howard Street, Nantucket from 9.30AM to 5.00PM each day during Nantucket by Design and will be open to the public.
The Eleish Van Breems quilt, titled Sacred Geometry, is inspired by an antique quilt from Smaland, Sweden. Smaland (a Mid-Southern province in Sweden where we manufacturer our hand crafted, Eleish Van Breems Home Swedish furniture collection), historically is a leader in the art of handicraft whether it is furniture, textiles, or wall coverings. We celebrate the art of handicraft by paying homage to the artisans both in Sweden, as well as on Nantucket, whose stories, talents, and community thrive in their creations, and keep the maker crafts so valued.
Each quilt will be sold as a one-of-a-kind collector’s piece to benefit the Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) and will bring greater awareness to an age-old craft and its preservation. The quilt is available to purchase on the Christopher Farr Cloth website.
Thank you for supporting this special craft and preserving our rich textile traditions. By acquiring a piece from the exhibition, you are contributing to the invaluable work of the Nantucket Historical Association.
